The Pollen!
POLLEN: WHAT IT IS?
Bee pollen has been rated as one of the most precious foods in the world for its complete and well-balanced concentration of all essential nutrients for the human body. It is a so great food that the French agronomist engineer Ain Cailas, one of the most popular beekeepers, has come to call it a “miracle food” and the German Federal Council of Health since 1977 has officially recognized it as a medicine. In fact, it contains almost all the nutrients that the human body needs!
Consider that in ancient times the Egyptians called it “dust of life“, this is because inside it contains all the elements necessary for life: proteins, amino acids, fats, carbohydrates, enzymes, mineral salts and hormones, present in different proportions depending on of the flower from which it is harvested.
Thanks to the combination of these nutritional elements, pollen acts as an energizer, stimulant and invigorator for the whole organism: both mentally and physically. It may be for this reason that a great doctor from the University of Paris, Ives Donadieu, called it “A generator of well-being that acts in a natural and harmonious way“.
POLLEN: HOW IS IT PRODUCED?
Pollen collection takes place three times a year: in April, when spring is born, in June, when the chestnut tree blooms, and in autumn, when the ivy is in bloom. It is collected by foraging bees, i.e. bees that have reached the 21st day of life. These collect the grains of flower in bloom by grouping them with their legs, to create a fairly large one (about 6-8 mg). At that point they return to the hive where they store it in the cells.
Generally, it is produced in greater quantities for the needs of bees, so it is easy for us beekeepers to collect it: we simply apply a grid at the entrance to the hives!
The bees, returning from the working day (which lasts more or less 8 hours) must pass through it in order to enter the hive and, during this passage in the small holes, the small larger grains detach and fall into a special container.
Its color can vary from yellow to orange to purplish because it is collected from the flowers of different plants. As you may have understood, therefore, it is not an elaboration of bees, as honey can be, but instead constitutes the raw material for the production of royal jelly!
BEE POLLEN: WHAT IS CONTAINED IN A SINGLE GRANULE?
Pollen is one of the richest substances in nature. Considered by many to be a Superfood due to the full range of nutrients it possesses. Each grain contains more than 2 million pollen particles!
Inside it is contained everything that is necessary for life:
Thanks to all these active ingredients, it is an excellent ally for sportsmen and vegetarians, especially for the high percentage of proteins: just think that it is higher than those contained in meat and fish!
BEE POLLEN: WHY IS IT USEFUL?
Considered a restorative tonic able to give vigor and energy, but also to fight vitamin deficiencies and lowered immune defenses and energies.
A "HELP" FOR THE BODY
- Anti-inflammatory: Being rich in vitamin C, it inhibits the basic mechanisms at the origin of inflammation
- Immune system: Ideal in the winter season and in the change of seasons to prevent flu and convalescence in general due to lowering of the immune system
- Detoxifying: Particularly recommended during detox periods. Thanks to vitamin B3, it cleanses the body from the effects of alcohol and drug consumption
- Metabolism: It accelerates the metabolism in a completely natural way
A "HELP" FOR THE MIND
- Increase energy: Thanks to the high concentration of vitamins C, B and manganese it acts immediately on our vitality, making us feel more active right from the first uses, without however exciting the body (like coffee does). This is why it is an excellent aid for students and athletes
- Depression, nervousness and insomnia: These disorders are most often due to deficiencies in vitamins, minerals and amino acids necessary for the proper functioning of the nervous system. It has been shown that pollen, thanks to the high percentage of these nutrients, helps to make up for deficiencies, thereby improving mood and general well-being
HOW TO CONSUME BEE POLLEN?
The recommended amount is about 15/20 g per day for an adult (1 tablespoon).
To avoid gastric acidity, it is recommended to chew it for a long time or dilute it with lukewarm drinks (water, milk or herbal tea).
Alternatively it can also be consumed mixed with honey, jam or yogurt during breakfast to start the day in the best possible way!
In fact, consuming it on an empty stomach seems to be the best way to assimilate all its nutrients.
It is particularly recommended during the change of seasons or in periods of severe fatigue and psychophysical stress, or alternatively in the case of very frequent sports activities.
