- Maca Mother Tincture Without Alcohol is an herbal preparation extracted from the root of the Lepidium meyenii, also known as “Ginseng of the Andes“.
- This type of extract contains the total phytocomplex of the plant in aqueous form; they contain all the beneficial properties of medicinal and spontaneous plants.
- Lepidium meyenii, commonly known as Maca, is a perennial plant native to the Andes Mountains in Peru and Bolivia, where it grows at altitudes above 3,500 meters (10,000 feet). A member of the Brassicaceae family (the same as cabbage and turnips), maca is known for its fleshy root, which is traditionally dried and used as a food or natural remedy.
- Maca extract is rich in active compounds that make it a powerful natural tonic. It contains macamides and macaenes, known to improve energy and physical endurance, along with glucosinolates that offer antioxidant properties and cellular protection. Its components also include alkaloids such as macaridine, believed to be beneficial for hormone balance, as well as a good amount of essential amino acids and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc and iron.
