- Valerian Mother Tincture Without Alcohol is a herbal preparation extracted from the roots of Valeriana Officinalis L.
- This type of extract contains the total phytocomplex of the plant in aqueous form; they contain all the beneficial properties of medicinal and spontaneous plants.
- Valeriana Officinalis , not to be confused with the related Valeriana salad, is a plant of the Caprifoliaceae family and is known in phytotherapy and herbal medicine for its anxiolytic, sedative and relaxing properties.
- Valerian Mother Tincture is mainly used in cases of agitation and as a sedative in sleep disorders because it is able to reduce the time needed to fall asleep and improves the quality of sleep .
- Valerian extract is rich in important substances such as moterpene compounds, sesquiterpene compounds (valerenic acids, valerenal, valeranone and beta-caryophyllene) , pyridine alkaloids (valerianine, actinidine, alpha-methylpyrylketone), essential oils, caffeic acid and derivatives, flavonoids that work in synergy with each other.
- Usually the mother tincture is made with alcoholic maceration of medicinal herbs, alcohol and water for a certain period of time (20-40 days). However, to make the product also suitable for children and pregnant women , there are also Alcohol-Free Mother Dyes , made with a mix of water and glycerin as solvents.
