Valerian extract is rich in important substances such as moterpene compounds, sesquiterpene compounds (valerenic acids, valerenal, valeranone and beta-caryophyllene) , pyridine alkaloids (valerianine, actinidine, alpha-methylpyrylketone), essential oils, caffeic acid and derivatives, flavonoids that work in synergy with each other.
All these claims are regulated and approved by the Italian Ministry of Health for their physiological effects, aimed at “optimizing the body’s functions in the context of homeostasis”.
